Heavy Metal Kings is by far one of the best albums to come out in 2011 to date, although we’d expect nothing less from the likes of Ill Bill (Non Phixion) & Vinnie Paz (Jedi Mid Tricks)..
For those that assumed they would be getting an album in the same vein as the ‘Heavy Metal Kings’ track on the Jedi Mind Tricks album think again, it’s not, it’s much better, and those who thought that they would be getting a heavily enthused metal guitar based album, its not, it’s straight up Hip-Hop with cleverly placed Heavy Metal references entwined in skillful wordplay. I wouldn’t be exaggerating if I was to say that this is a masterpiece of an album. It’s pure undiluted and uncut d’opium that’s sure to leave you fiending hit after hit.
A 16 track monster that’s so heavy it’s like the earths very rotation has increased speed exponentially causing massive spikes in its gravitational pull, enough to topple corrupt governments and bring down heaven its self. So let’s start with the most immediate stand out track on the album ‘Blood Meridian’, the beat is amazing, reminiscent of that early Non Phixion era with cuts to match, (also check out the sick video too). Bill & Paz bond so well to this beat it’s like Hannibal Lector’s feet and a pair of vagina slippers, so natural and cosy as fuck!
Although the whole album is dope its only after you listen to the whole thing again with equal focus that you find tracks that are just as dope as ‘Blood Meridian’, if not more dope. With features from ‘Reef the Lost Cause’, ‘Sabac Red’, ‘Crypt the Warchild’, ‘Q-Unique’ & ‘Slaine’ what we have here is a mixture of ‘the expected’ and ‘the unexpected’, what you’ve come to expect from Bill & Paz are tracks like ‘Keeper of the Seven Keys’, ‘King Diamond’, ‘The Vice of Killing’ and ‘Splatterfest’ alongside the unexpected, original and timeless tracks such as ‘Impaled Nazerene’, ‘Children of God’, ‘Devils Rebels’, ‘Leviathan (the Spell Of Kingu)’ and ‘Final Call’ which really make this a truly groundbreaking album.
This is Heavy, Raw and uncompromised music from two of the most undeniably skilled and almighty leaders in this occult we call Hip-Hop boasting a track record that goes way back and proves time and time again that they still rule the throne.
